WHO ARE WE:
The "Manawatunes" is a male voice chorus dedicated to singing and performing in the Barbershop style of unaccompanied four part close harmony . This an a capella music style with the lead singing the melody and the other three parts of tenor (above the lead), baritone and bass harmonizing to the melody to make the distinctive chords we love to sing. Based in Palmerston North we currently have some 30 members and cover the wider area with members from as far afield as Wanganui, Pahiatua, Marton, Woodville and Feilding.
WHAT ARE WE ABOUT:
"Fun and Fellowship through Improved Singing"
That's our mission statement and epitomizes the ethos of the chorus. This combines the social aspects with performing regularly in the community by taking part in both public and private functions and events, putting on two shows each year and developing our skills so we can compete with confidence and quality at our national conventions and carry this through to our local performances.
